지난 2020년 LG화학 인도 공장에서 벌어진 '가스 누출 참사'와 관련해 LG화학이 인도적인 지원을 확대하기로 한 데 

대해 피해자 단체들이 보다 적극적인 보상을 촉구했습니다.

LG폴리머스가스피해자협회 등 피해자단체는 오늘 오전 한국 환경보건시민센터와 함께 온라인 기자회견을 열고 

LG화학의 지원에 대해 "주민 2만명의 고통에 비하면 충분하지 않다"고 밝혔습니다.

그러면서 모든 피해자에게 기간·진료 범위의 제한 없이 무상치료를 제공하고, 그동안 피해자가 부담해 온 의료비를

상환하라고 회사 측에 요구했습니다.

또, 피해 마을인 벤타카푸람을 위해 1억 루피, 한화로 1조6천560억원 규모의 기금을 조성하고, 사망자 유족과 피해가

큰 마을 주민에게 정규직 일자리를 요구했습니다.

그러면서 최근 신학철 LG화학 부회장이 인도 현지를 방문한 것과 관련해서는 "사고 현장도, 피해자단체도 만나지 않았고

언론을 통해 발표한 지원 내용도 피해자 단체에는 전달되지 않았다"고 지적했습니다.

앞서 지난 2020년 인도 남부 비사카파트남 LG화학 인도공장에서 유독성 화학물질인 스티렌 가스가 다량 누출되면서

12명이 숨지고 585명이 병원으로 옮겨졌습니다.

Regarding LG Chem's decision to expand humanitarian support in relation to the 'gas leak disaster' 

that occurred at LG Chem's Indian plant in 2020.

Victim groups have called for more active compensation.

Victim groups, including the LG Polymers Gas Victims Association, held an online press conference 

with the Korean Citizens' Center for Environment and Health this morning and

Regarding the support, he said, "It is not enough compared to the suffering of 20,000 residents."

At the same time, free treatment is provided to all victims without restrictions on period or scope 

of treatment, and medical expenses that victims have been paying are covered.

In addition, a fund worth 100 million rupees (KRW 1.656 trillion in Korean Won) was created for 

the affected village of Ventakapuram, and the families of the deceased and the victims were raised.

It demanded regular jobs for residents of large villages.

At the same time, regarding LG Chem Vice Chairman Shin Hak-cheol's recent visit to India, he said, 

"He did not visit the accident site or meet the victims' group.

He pointed out, “The support announced through the media was not delivered to the victims’ groups.”

Previously, in 2020, a large amount of styrene gas, a toxic chemical substance, leaked from 

LG Chemical's Indian plant in Visakhapatnam, southern India. 12 people died and 585 were taken to hospitals.
